With this growth comes a need for skilled and career-minded professionals to fill the labor needs of the industry’s growing and thriving home technology professional companies.

This growth also presents an opportunity for entrepreneurs and small business owners looking to provide in-demand home technology services to today’s savvy homeowners.

There are a variety of positions for every skill level in the home technology industry. Examples include:

Technician/Installer - Under direct supervision, performs wiring and installation of electronic systems. Experienced individuals earn an average of $40,000* annually. 

Designer / Engineer - Actively participates in electronic system design, engineering, and / or documentation. Experienced individuals earn an average of $55,000* annually. 

Project Manager - Provides overall management on multiple projects, to include project communication, coordination, scheduling, materials management, and invoicing.  Experienced individuals earn an average of $50,000* annually. 

Programmer - Creates the user interface and develops code for overlay control systems. Programming of lighting control systems, distributed audio systems, and universal remote controls may also fall into the programmer functional role. Experienced individuals earn an average of $57,500* annually.

Sales - Sells custom electronic system design and installation services; establishes and nurtures relationships with architects, designers, home builders, realtors, and others to promote future business; develops and presents electronic system proposals.  Senior Sales team members earn an average of $68,000* annually. 

Owner/Partner - Owners and partners on average have a lot of experience within the industry or in running a business. They may spend their day fulfilling a variety of functions within the business (i.e. sales, office management, design, etc.). Experienced individuals earn an average of $70,000* annually.
